On The Long Lonely Highways of America
Young, restless, and ready to learn ...
Hey, y’all! My name is Samantha “Sam” Gaylor, I’m a 22 year old Texan, born and raised, and I currently reside in West Texas. I’ve been an Elvis fan for a little over 2.5 years now, and learning about everything Elvis has quickly become a full-time hobby of mine. Finding Elvis, or rather, Elvis finding me, changed my life forever. It felt like I was sleepwalking for 19 years, but Elvis woke me up and showed me how to live, how to love, how to thrive. The least I can do to thank him is to share my love for him and the knowledge I’ve gained with the world.

Last Fall, I decided to take a break from college, and this year, I got a job with DHS, moved out on my own, and am hopefully gonna start taking automation classes in Fall 2025.

Although I’ve never really been a strong writer and never had anything to write about, I have always wanted a blog, and here we are! In the past, I've struggled when it came to finding a blog topic, but Elvis came along and made that part pretty easy. It's fair to say, I didn’t initially start this blog because I wanted to share my knowledge; I think you could say I actually started it because I didn’t have Elvis knowledge, at least not about Elvis places. The idea for this blog came to me when I was looking up information about a venue Elvis performed at in the 1950s and couldn’t find anything. I don’t remember the exact place I was searching for, but I do remember it was in Texas and that the lack of information frustrated me. I dug a little deeper just to find that there was a lot of missing information about Elvis places, especially places during his Louisiana Hayride days. There are two other blogs, in particular, that I’ve found, that help outline some of the places in small towns throughout the United States, but the blogs are dated, sometimes hard to navigate, exclude a decent amount of places, and don’t usually list addresses or coordinates for anything; meaning, that even with those websites for reference, finding certain places they write about can still be a pain.

So, with that, “My Elvis Adventures” blog came to be, with the goal of researching venues, hotels, restaurants, etc. that Elvis visited, going to said places, taking pictures, getting the occasional tour, visiting town archives and researching for days, and compacting everything into blog posts for y’all to access whenever you might need it.

With all that said, here I am, ready and willing to be your tour guide and bring you updated information with addresses / coordinates of Elvis places, for if you ever find yourself driving through a town and wondering, “Has Elvis been here?”

So, feel free to join me as I explore Elvis’ world, starting on the long, lonely highways of Texas. Everyone is welcome.
